Approach to Skill Development

Member of the Punjab Assembly, Adnan Afzal Chattha, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Chief Minister's Task Force for Skills Development in Punjab. This task force, established under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to enhance the capacity of the Skills Development Authority and related institutions.

The task force is expected to play a pivotal role in aligning vocational training programs with market demands, thereby contributing to economic growth and employment opportunities in the province. Under his leadership, the task force is working to reform and modernize the technical education landscape, ensuring that training institutions keep pace with evolving industry requirements.

Mr. Chattha envisions a skills ecosystem where education directly translates to employment and entrepreneurship. His approach focuses on bridging theoretical knowledge with practical expertise, developing industry partnerships, and creating sustainable models for technical training that can be scaled across the province.

Structural Reforms

Punjab Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Secretary Nadir Chattha has announced a significant structural reform in the province's vocational training framework. He stated that all skill development institutions have been consolidated under a single department to improve coordination, eliminate redundancy, and ensure the efficient use of resources. This consolidation is part of the Punjab government's broader agenda to streamline technical education and align it with current industry needs.

According to Secretary Chattha, this move will enable uniform policy implementation, centralized monitoring, and improved service delivery across the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) ecosystem. It will also facilitate better curriculum design, more relevant skill training, and quicker response to market demands.

The initiative is seen as a crucial step toward creating a more integrated and responsive skill development system that can equip the youth of Punjab with employable and entrepreneurial skills, ultimately contributing to economic growth and job creation.
